Vision

CMC founder Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, visualized the role of educated women in the faith formation of families and uplift of society in general. Teacher education is a powerful instrument to realize this vision .We visualize the outgoing future teachers of St.Joseph Training college for Women, to be true professionals in every respect, committed to preparing young people not only to face the challenges of future societies with confidence but also to build a global community with purpose and responsibility.

Mission

"Education is not a profession but a sacred call a great apostolate through which we participate in the teaching mission of the church." (CMC Con.No.197). St.Joseph Training College, as a center for moulding future teachers has a special responsibility in this regard. The college stands for academic excellence, good discipline, development of skills and character formation based on the love of God and the service of mankind as modeled in the person of Jesus Christ, so that they can become instrumental in realizing the vision, In all our efforts to attain the academic and professional excellence of prospective teachers, we intend to strive for the total formation and transformation of the human person, thereby enriching and equipping them for the service of the society and the nation, in the spirit of the Lord. This has been conceived as the inner thrust of all the activities in the college.

Goal

To form teachers who are intellectually competent, emotionally balanced, culturally refined, spiritually mature, morally upright, physically healthy, vocationally productive and self sufficient, with professional excellence and commitment to enlighten real knowledge and wisdom in the world around us.

Motto

The vision, mission and goal of the college are depicted in the motto:
"LET LIGHT BE A SOURCE OF ENLIGHTENMENT"

Objectives

  • To enable the prospective teachers to understand the philosophy of secondary education, sociological implications and psychology of the learners and learning.
  • To equip them to acquire competencies relevant to stage-specific pedagogy, curriculum development its transaction and evaluation.
  • To enable them develop communication skills and use modern information technology for school purposes.
  • To acquaint them with research in education, including action research.
  • To instill in them basic human values and national values enshrined in the constitution.
  • To familiarize them with Indian way of prayer, and to deepen their faith vision and God experience.
  • To awaken social consciousness and thus to prepare socially responsible and acceptable citizens.
  • To develop appreciation towards the dignity and equality of women and to equip them to stand for the cause of women empowerment.
  • To develop respect and regard for the fellow beings.
  • To prepare teachers who are capable of integrating self, society and nature.
  • To prepare teachers committed to the learner, to professional excellence, to basic values and to the society at large.
